Preparing all students
Administrators and teachers in Elizabethton City Schools are taking a district-wide approach to helping student succeed on the ACT Test. Representatives from all school levels participate in a regional ACT Collaborative in the First Tennessee Development District with other northeast Tennessee school districts to ensure ACT success is a goal from kindergarten through senior year.
In the 2017-18 school year, Elizabethton High School held its first ACT Day. On this day, all freshman, sophomores and juniors took an ACT preparation test, and seniors took the free ACT retake, provided by the TN Department of Education. All students taking an ACT preparation test will receive detailed feedback for each section so they know how to improve for the ACT, taken initially in their junior year. In the past, students have only received their composite score along with scores by subject. We hope this information will help students learn their strengths and areas where they can improve. These are provided at no cost to the student.
SAT & PSAT
EHS does not offer or require the SAT test. If students want to take the SAT, they register online and go to Johnson City to take it. The counseling office provides information about the SAT and hosts an optional Pre-SAT test day in the Fall for juniors and high-achieving sophomores. High scores can qualify them for the National Merit Scholars program and Scholarship. Students that wish to take the PSAT, register for $15 and are provided study materials.Information about the PSAT is on www.collegeboard.org.
